Packed and ready to go… This time, I’m keeping Miami all to myself. Be back in a week or so. In the mean time, here’s some Devendra…Did you know that he was raised in Venezuela? That’s why you hear spanish every now and then on his new album. Brindo is one of my favorite songs.

DCist Exposed Photo Exhibit = DC Love

Opening night of DCist exposed photo show

I attended the DCist exposed photography exhibit opening party last night. It was pretty illustrious. The ambiance was hipsteresque, which I LOVED. The exhibit features a collection of photos by DC locals. All photos pertain to DC and they are quite marvelous. It was nice to see captured instances from all over DC. The event itself was great – lots of people, drinks, and great music (the DJ was amazing).

The exhibit will last until March 21st at Long View Gallery. Photos are for sale. Check it!

Ok, so this is Minus the Bear’s new single from their upcoming album, OMNI, due out in May. It’s a different sound for the band, and I’m not sure how I feel about it. This sounds kind of pop-y and synth-y. Hmm. Maybe it will grow on me…or not.

Miami International Fashion Week

Miami Fashion Week 2010

Miami International Fashion Week will celebrate its 12th year this March from the 18th to the 21st. This international event, with a Hispanic emphasis, will feature runway shows from international designers, a culinary arts pavilion, and student filmmaker, graphic designer, and fashion photographer competitions. It will take place in Miami’s trendy Wynwood District. There’s after parties, of course, at Set, Klutch, and other venues, but I’m probably more excited for the closing-night wrap party at Midtown on Saturday.

Tonight…Rock & Roll Hotel

DJs Keenan and Smudge spin house, retro rock tunes, electro, Brazilian - anything that gets a crowd moving. On the last Friday of the month, they set a hip vibe at the Rock & Roll Hotel’s upstairs bar with music that’s great for dancing or just hanging out. Drink specials include a beer and a shot of whiskey for $6.

Brazilian? Retro-rock? I’m there!
